Our memberships
The Active Membership
As an “active member,” you can participate in HMSK’s weekly club evenings. Here, you’ll receive surfing lessons and can borrow the club’s boards, wetsuits, and shoes. Additionally, you can take part in other club events, such as the Christmas party and summer festival. With an active membership, you are also allowed to park your car at the parking lot at Nordre Strandvej 51-53. The membership also grants you the right to vote at the club’s annual general meeting.
As an active member, you also support the club’s work to:
- strengthen a positive community and a sustainable development* of surfing activities**, the surf environment***, and surf tourism**** in Hanstholm.
- represent surfers’ interests in protecting and developing Hanstholm’s surf spots, including Fishermans Corner, Fakir, Fish Factory, Middles, Hamborg, Campingpladsen, and Vigsø Bay.
The active membership is for those who want to be part of the community. As an active member, you’ll also receive a free HMSK sticker.
The Passive Membership
Do you love surfing in Hanstholm and think it’s important to protect and preserve the various surf spots? Then you can make a difference by signing up for a passive membership.
The passive membership is a financial contribution and a declaration of your support for HMSK’s work to:
- strengthen a positive community and a sustainable development* of surfing activities**, the surf environment***, and surf tourism**** in Hanstholm.
- represent surfers’ interests in protecting and developing Hanstholm’s surf spots, including Fishermans Corner, Fakir, Fish Factory, Middles, Hamborg, Campingpladsen, and Vigsø Bay.
The passive membership is for those who love surfing in Hanstholm and believe it’s important that the surfing community in Hanstholm has a strong voice
* Sustainable development refers to a development that ensures present and future generations of surfers have great opportunities to surf in Hanstholm, that surfing in Hanstholm takes place with consideration for nature and the environment, and that surfing contributes positively to settlement, cultural life, youth activities, and the local economy.
** Surfing activities include all sports that utilize swells and breaking waves, such as surfing, windsurfing, SUP surfing, kite surfing, foil surfing, outrigger canoeing, surf kayaking, and surfskiing, among others.
*** The surf environment refers to the culture among surfers and the physical frameworks that support surfing activities.
**** Surf tourism refers to tourists who come to Thy and use Hanstholm’s unique surf spots.
